Bulldogs Interrupting Dad's Nap for More Playtime Are Just Like Human Kids

If you want to take a peaceful nap, you should not get a dog. Whether they're upset that you're trying to take a nap while they want to play or they're looking for a way to get in there and nap beside you, you can expect to take at least one bony, furry elbow to the ribs.

On Saturday, August 3rd, two Bulldogs gave their dad the full Dog Dad Nap Experience. They're trying to either squeeze more playtime out of him or find their comfy napping spot, but it's not going well:

Rumor has it that @lexrou4's husband still hasn't taken his nap. How can he?!

These sweet Bulldogs are siblings, and they live with their mom, dad, and little human sister, Stella. They're pretty much running the whole show over there; everyone, including Stella, does pretty much anything they ask, It's amazing.

On this day, dad was trying to take a nap, and the two dogs take slightly different approaches. One of them takes the front and starts attacking his head (with kisses, of course) while the other walks across his back to plop down. If he had any knots, they're gone now, and that massage was completely free. If you ask me, he should be grateful!

How to Take a Break From Your Dogs

If you need a break from your dogs, you have no reason to feel bad, but it's hard not to. Especially when they're puppies - we feel like we need to be with them 24/7, but that's not the case. If anything, it just makes us feel worse.

However, we need to take breaks from our furry friends to be able to be the best pet parents we can be. The first step to being okay with that is to get your mindset right: you're not abandoning them. You're not neglecting them. It is okay for you to take a breather.

When you feel like you need to take a minute, you should:

    1. Make sure all of your dog's needs are met (they're not hungry, they don't need to go potty, they're not in pain, etc.,).
    2. Find a good space for them to be left alone, like a spare room or their crate.
    3. Set them away in there with a few toys, maybe a treat puzzle.
    4. Walk away and take your time.

Odds are, when you set the dog away, they'll end up taking a nap anyway and will be refreshed when you return. Practicing this early on when you get them will also help with separation anxiety and creating independence for your pup. These Bulldogs know nothing about that, but your dog might be able to!
