Nikola Jokic's Teammate Had Blunt Explanation For MVP Ignoring Media At Olympics

Nikola Jokic often lets his game do the talking. But the Serb has taken that practice to more extreme lengths throughout the 2024 Paris Olympics.

On Tuesday, the 29-year-old center put Serbia on his back during their 95-90 overtime win over Australia in the quarterfinals of the men's basketball tournament.

Jokic made every possible big play down the stretch to ensure his team came away victorious at Bercy Arena.

But the game's biggest performer was nowhere to be found when it came time to speak to the media. Instead, it was team captain Bogdan Bogdanovic who spoke on Jokic's behalf.

Bogdanovic explained that media members wanting to get a soundbite out of Jokic shouldn't get their hopes up.

“He’s great," Bogdanovic said about Jokic. "But he only likes to talk to me, you know that. In the NBA, if he doesn’t talk to media, he’ll get fined. But here (in the Olympics), there are no fines. So he says, ‘I don’t need to.’ No offense to you guys.”

Jokic completely dominated the overtime period against Australia. In the first few minutes, the Joker did so with his passing and defense.

Then in the final minute, with a trip to the semifinals hanging in the balance, Jokic scored two massive buckets to bury the Boomers.

Serbia trailed by as many as 24 points but managed to claw their way back thanks in large part to Jokic.

Australia was ahead 46-22 after Josh Giddey hit a jumper at the 6:28 mark of the second quarter. Serbia outscored them 73-44 the rest of the way.

The Denver Nuggets star tallied 21 points, 14 rebounds, 8 assists, and 4 steals in the contest. He led his team in all four categories.

There are clearly very few things Jokic cannot do. His shortlist of limitations includes stomaching even a brief media session.
