Adam Schefter Identifies 1 Team He 'Doesn’t Expect' Will Trade for 49ers' Brandon Aiyuk

The San Francisco 49ers recently announced that star wide receiver, Brandon Aiyuk can officially seek a trade. Many have pinpointed several teams that could potentially be in the mix to land Aiyuk. However, ESPN's Adam Schefter names one team he "doesn't expect" will trade for the star wide receiver.

During a guest appearance on The Pat McAfee Show , Schefter revealed the Pittsburgh Steelers as the team he "doesn't believe" will trade for the 49ers star. Although the Steelers have been a favorite landing spot for fans and analysts, it sounds like they won't be able to get a possible deal done for Aiyuk.

"I don't expect Pittsburgh to be a landing spot at all. I think Pittsburgh, like a lot of teams, check into this. 'Here's the price it would take for the 49ers, here's the price it would take for Brandon Aiyuk.' And every team has to make a decision about whether or not that would work for them."

Aiyuk and the 49ers have been one of the focal points this offseason as the star wideout has been seeking a new deal. Although San Francisco holds the leverage with the ability to franchise tag Aiyuk this offseason and next offseason, reports indicate the front office is unable to get a new contract finalized with him.

Rumors indicate that both the Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots are in the mix. However, we won't know for sure until a possible trade is conducted. New England head coach, Jerod Mayo was recently asked about the rumors but he maintained his focus on the players on the current roster , according to Mike Reiss of ESPN.

Aiyuk has become a reliable option in the 49ers passing game and he'll be sorely missed if a trade does come to fruition. He put up career numbers for San Francisco last season after recording 75 receptions for 1,342 yards (career-high), and seven touchdowns.

The 49ers may already have Aiyuk's replacement after selecting Rickey Pearsall in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Despite never surpassing 1,000 receiving yards in a single season in his college career, Pearsall has gained a ton of hype since being drafted by San Francisco. He finished his final season with the Florida Gators recording 65 receptions, 965 yards, and six total touchdowns.

Aiyuk rumors will continue to run rampant until a deal is done. As of now, reports indicate the 49ers want a veteran wide receiver and draft picks via trade, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports and Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com Rumors are the Patriots could offer Kendrick Bourne while the Browns may offer Amari Cooper.

"The 49ers likely would acquire a veteran wide receiver and a package of draft picks from the Browns or the Patriots. The Browns would be in a position to add Aiyuk if wide receiver Amari Cooper were sent to the 49ers as part of the trade."
