Despite being considered one of the favorites to win gold in Paris, Team Canada will be going home early, and they have two players mostly responsible.

Canada had a roster stacked with NBA talent, from the MVP-caliber star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to the likes of Jamal Murray, RJ Barrett, Lu Dort, and Dillon Brooks among others.

Expected to be one of the teams to compete with Team USA for the gold medal in the Paris Olympics, that dream disappeared when Canada lost 82-73 to France in the quarterfinals.

SGA and Barrett did what they could to keep their team close, combining for 43 points, but the shooting struggles from their teammates proved to be fatal as the French pulled away with the upset.

It was a stunning result for a Canada squad that topped their group and displayed the marvelous two-way talent they had on their roster.

It didn't take long for fans to see why the team didn't prevail against France, immediately looking at Jamal Murray and Dillon Brooks. The pair combined for just nine points on a horrendous 4-of-22 shooting from the field. It was a brutal Olympics for Murray, averaging six points on 29% shooting overall and 14.3% from downtown.

Not only did these struggles bring massive disappointment to themselves, but also to the fans who were hopeful for solid performances from their team overall. It also resulted in them getting memed on social media.
