Dani Olmo appears set for a move to Barcelona as Arne Slot confirmed that Anfield recruitment chiefs are continuing to scour the market for potential new additions .

The Spanish attacker's performances in the Bundesliga for RB Leipzig over the past five campaigns have made him one of the hottest properties in Europe this summer. With his reputation enhanced further by his displays at Euro 2024 for tournament winners Spain, a move to Catalonia now is reportedly in the offing.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who has purported on X that a "verbal agreement" has been struck for the 26-year-old to head to Camp Nou this summer. Deco has been in Germany thrashing out talks over a potential binding deal, with a financial package of €55m ($60m) plus €7m ($7.6m) in add-ons currently aid to be on the table. Speaking on Tuesday, Leipzig's managing director Marcel Schafer confirmed of the negotiations: "We are ready to talk about it but Dani has a certain value. Dani is an exceptional player."

Meanwhile, the Bundesliga side's head coach Marco Rose also previously spoke of the player's worth to the club, saying: "The player has value. He earned it with us. He has developed brilliantly. Everyone knows what Dani Olmo can do. Accordingly, everyone must be clear about his value and under what conditions the club might be willing to talk."

Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Slot has confirmed that work is ongoing in the background involving sporting director Richard Hughes as the Reds weigh up potential targets in the window. With no new signings having yet been made this summer, he said: "I notice that you are focused a lot on new signings! I am focused on the tour, how we played, what we need to improve and what we did well.

"Like I said, the bar is really high for new signings because we have so many good players. It is not so easy to first find a player to meet those standards and then ask, 'Is he available?'. Then we have to find an agreement with them, so it is not always easy to find a player who can help us but Richard is working hard on it and let's see what comes from this.

"If he (Hughes) is not here we are on the phone many times but like I said, my main focus was working with the team and preparing them in the best possible way for the first Premier League game. Apart from that he is working on things and he keeps me updated every time."

He added: "The best way to judge it is when we have all the players back and we still haven't but a club like Liverpool always keeps its eye open to see what's available. For players that can strengthen the squad and that is what we - Richard mostly but me as well - are looking to do. But that is not particular to one position. We constantly evaluate the squad where we can do something and what we have."
