United States sprinter Gabby Thomas stole the show on Tuesday after bagging a historic gold medal in the Paris Olympics. The 27-year-old placed first in the women's 200m race, which was the first time an American won gold in the event since Allyson Felix achieved the same feat back in 2012.

Messages of congratulations have been pouring in for Thomas after her amazing performance, but one that stands out from the bunch is a statement from one of the most decorated icons of track and field, Carl Lewis.

    "Congratulations and well-deserved @itsgabbyt . đź‘Źđź‘Źđź‘Ź," Lewis wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Lewis kept his message short and sweet, but I'm pretty sure Thomas herself very much appreciates this special shoutout from the Olympic legend.

Lewis, 63, has no less than 10 Olympic medals under his belt, nine of which are gold. One of them came in the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles after he finished first in the 200m race.

Having been there many times in the past, Lewis definitely knows what it takes to make it big at the grandest of stages. He also knows the feeling all too well, making his shoutout for Thomas even more meaningful.
