Devin Booker Reveals Ultimate Goal As Kevin Durant's Olympic Teammate

Kevin Durant and Team USA men's basketball secured a 122-87 victory over Brazil in the quarterfinals of the Paris Olympics on Tuesday.

During the win, Durant became the all-time leading scorer for Team USA basketball in both men's and women's participants, passing WNBA legend Lisa Leslie, who had 488 points in her Olympic career.

His NBA and Team USA teammate, Devin Booker, was interviewed after the game, where he was asked about Durant's incredible feat.

Booker believes the United States team has a responsibility to get Kevin Durant his fourth gold medal so he can continue to notch Olympic history.

He shared high praise for the 35-year-old, given his ability to see the work Durant puts into the game of basketball since they're teammates at the NBA level with the Phoenix Suns.

“That’s Captain America status," Booker said. "I feel like he has every record, every Olympic record. Now we have to get him his first gold. That would be the most as a men’s player also. He’s a hard worker, man. Now that we’re teammates, I get to see it behind the scenes. All he cares about is hoops.”

A gold medal for Durant in 2024 would give him the most gold medals by a Team USA men's basketball player in Olympic history. Currently, he is tied with Carmelo Anthony, each having three gold medals.

While Durant is one of the leading veterans on the squad, next to LeBron James and Stephen Curry, he's currently coming off the bench for Team USA.

Booker has been a consistent starter, joining Joel Embiid, Jrue Holiday, James, and Curry in the initial lineup.

In the win against Brazil, Durant posted 11 points and four rebounds, while Booker notched 18 points and three assists.

Team USA will be back on the hardwood on Aug. 8 against Serbia at 3 p.m. ET.

Lisa Leslie still holds the record in women's basketball, having secured her total while playing in the 1996 Atlanta, 2000 Sydney, 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Games, earning a gold medal in each of the international contests.
