Kevin Durant Displays Class After Beating Record

    By Lance Roberson,

Kevin Durant respects basketball's past, especially regarding the legends in the sport. Following Team USA's 122-87 dismantling of Brazil in the Olympic quarterfinals, the Phoenix Suns superstar took to social media, acknowledging Lisa Leslie.

"Records are meant to be broken, I’ll hold on to this until another great comes along and passes me up…Lisa Leslie you are the gold standard in basketball, I appreciate your love and support throughout the years..much love to you always…it’s all about the gold baby. Let’s get it fellas," Durant posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).

As Team USA's all-time leader in points, Durant is solidified as one of the best players the game has ever had the privilege to witness.

Despite enduring a calf strain throughout the exhibition showcases leading to the Olympic games, Durant stepped on the court vs. Serbia without missing a beat. The former Golden State Warriors star exploded for a 5-5 three-point shooting mark.

Perhaps Durant will experience similar success as Team USA rematches Serbia in the Olympic semifinals. As Durant made history on Tuesday, so did Serbia. Nikola Jokic led his native country to a 24-point comeback to defeat Australia 95-90 overtime victory.

Team USA will need Durant's scoring and overall Olympic presence to win gold against a fiery Serbia team. Although Durant claims records are meant to be broken, it's currently difficult to envision another player dedicating their time and talents to Team USA enough to come close to the all-time stat.

Team USA faces Serbia on August 8 at 12 PM Pacific Time.
