Over the past few days, one of the biggest storylines in the NFL has been surrounding San Francisco 49ers star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, and where he will be playing the 2024 season.

These trade talks have been ongoing for a while now, but the last week has seen them reach a fever-pitch, with teams like the Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, and several others reportedly in talks with John Lynch and the 49ers.

On Tuesday night, a development in the story came out, with ESPN's Adam Schefter reporting that one team that was supposedly in talks with San Francisco has since pulled their name from the ring of potential landing spots.

That team is the New England Patriots.

Going into the year, the Patriots are looking to surround rookie quarterback Drake Maye with some reliable pass-catchers, so trading for Aiyuk would have been a logical move. As of now, New England has guys like KJ Osbourne, Kendrick Bourne, Jalen Raegor, and rookie Ja'Lynn Polk in the WR room. Adding someone like Aiyuk would have been a major plus.

Instead, it appears that the Patriots are comfortable moving forward with what they have, while the rest of the league can battle over Aiyuk and try to find a suitable trade package for him.
