Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant wrote another chapter of his historic basketball career on Tuesday, becoming USA Basketball's all-time leading Olympic scorer. Finishing with 11 points in the Paris Olympics quarterfinals win over Brazil, Durant passed WNBA legend Lisa Leslie for the top spot on this list.

Sharing a heartfelt message to Leslie after breaking her record, Durant shared a post on X that has been going viral.

"Records are meant to be broken," Durant wrote on Tuesday evening. "I’ll hold on to this until another great comes along and passes me up… Lisa Leslie you are the gold standard in basketball, I appreciate your love and support throughout the years.. much love to you always…it’s all about the gold baby. Let’s get it fellas."

As Durant emphasized, the goal is gold, which Team USA will have an opportunity to play for if they defeat Serbia in their semifinals game.

Durant is a 14-time NBA All-Star, four-time scoring champion, two-time NBA Finals MVP, and now Team USA's all-time leading Olympic scorer.

Prior to his viral message on X, Durant received a message from Leslie herself.

"Congratulations [Kevin Durant]," the WNBA legend wrote in a post on X. "I’m honored to have you break my [Team USA] Olympic record!!! Our dedication to our country is evident and etched in stone!! Now go get another Gold medal my friend! One Team, One Goal, Gold!"

With a lot of mutual respect for one another, Durant and Leslie exchanged thoughtful messages following the NBA star's record-breaking performance.
