Team USA Coach Drops Injury Update On LeBron James After Brazil Win

United States Olympic superstar LeBron James suffered a rare injury against Brazil on Tuesday. During Team USA's dominant victory, James was sidelined after catching an elbow to the face from Brazil’s Georginho de Paula as both players attempted to haul in a rebound off the glass.
After the game, head coach Steve Kerr shared an injury update on the NBA veteran.
Kerr mentioned that James received four stitches just above his eye. The 39-year-old tallied 17 minutes in the 122-87 victory, recording 12 points, nine assists and three rebounds.
James has started every game for Kerr and Team USA, so his availability for their next matchup will be vital. He leads the starting lineup with Stephen Curry, Devin Booker, Jrue Holiday, and Joel Embiid.
Kerr didn't give a definitive answer on James' availability for the next round, but most fans and media personnel are speculating that he'll suit up in the semifinal round.
In rare cases, stitches will keep an athlete out of the game, especially with James having some time to rest before the USA's next matchup.
Team USA will play Nikola Jokic and Serbia on Aug. 8 at 3 p.m. ET in the men's basketball semifinals.
The last time the United States played Serbia was on July 28 in the Group Phase, where they defeated Jokic and company, 110-84.
If the United States can claw out a victory against Serbia, they will play the winner of Germany versus France, which will be played just before America's game. Germany and France's semifinal bout will be on Aug. 8 at 11:30 a.m. ET.
