Kellie Harrington's emotional moment with wife Mandy after gold medal win shows her true colors

Kellie Harrington celebrated her special moment with her wife Mandy after securing gold at the Paris Olympics on Tuesday evening .

The proud Dubliner triumphed over China's Wenlu Yang at Roland Garros in the women's 60kg final, bagging her second consecutive Olympic gold medal.

Harrington's win marks a stark contrast to her previous victory in Tokyo three years ago, which took place without spectators due to Covid-19 restrictions.

This time, however, she was cheered on by a passionate Irish crowd, including her spouse.

Post-victory, the couple embraced and shared a kiss as Harrington announced her decision to "retire a champion".

Speaking to RTE , she declared: "It's the last hurrah. I'm done. I always said I'd retire a champion, that's it. Let me say it again: Bob's your uncle, Fanny's your auntie, goodnight Irene."

She continued, expressing disbelief at her achievement: "I didn't think this was possible,".

She extended her gratitude, saying: "Thanks to the coaches here and back home and (wife) Mandy, my brothers and my ma and da and close friends who kept me going even when I didn't believe. And here I am. It's a nice way to go out."
