Overall, the August 5th show was incredibly good, and we have reactions to Odyssey Jones’ massive debut on Monday Night RAW.

Personally, I gave the August 5th RAW rave reviews. If you don’t believe me, you can check it out here . One of my favorite segments involved The Final Testament and the New Day, and an unlikely participant. That would be little-used Odyssey Jones. Jones is a massive mountain of a man, and he impressed during his stint within NXT . So much so that he actually was a draft pick during the 2023 WWE Draft. But, after being drafted, we saw basically nothing from him.

    That changed on Monday.

And it changed in a big way. As Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were in a tag match against the Authors of Pain, Karrion Kross interjected. The numbers of the Final Testament were proving to be too much for New Day to deal with. But, just as it seemed our baby faces were going to lose, down came an unexpected saving grace. Odyssey Jones quietly strode down to the ring and dispatched Kross. The intervention allowed New Day to score a roll up win, but the fun was just starting. Talk about a big Odyssey Jones debut on RAW !

Jones capped the in-ring arrival off with a thunderous stereo sidewalk slam-dropping both members of AOP at the same time. Big E was super impressed and happy about it, as he expressed via social media. Another notable comment came from Sean Waltman, who dropped some PC knowledge on us. Jones is clearly big and strong, but even if one of the Authors assisted him getting off the mat? The strength is real. Jones set a weight lifting record at the Performance Center, besting a mark set by Otis. And per X-Pac, WWE officials made him stop, else the lift record could be even more impressive.

Almost as impressive as how big Odyssey did on social media:

Per PWInsider , executives in the back were thrilled with how the debut went as well. Perhaps the only one (outside of the Final Testament) unhappy about things could be Xavier Woods . He didn’t seem thrilled with how Kofi had set this up and not told him, so watch that thread. My only question? If Jones was that good on RAW, and was pretty impressive in NXT, what made WWE hold him off television for so long? I trust they had a good reason, and the payoff was, so far, so good.
