FAMILY of missing Brit Simon Robinson have revealed they are in the dark about why he suddenly cut short his Thailand trip.

The Lincolnshire lad , 27, flew to the Southeast Asian holiday hotspot on July 22, originally planning to stay until August 3.

But he phoned his girlfriend to let her know he shifted plans and was instead coming home early on July 26.

Simon never made it back to the UK, his family say.

Despite his phone’s location being just minutes away from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport, it was initially feared he never boarded his flight.

It remains unclear why Simon decided to cut short his solo trip.

On social media, relative Danielle Yves Dale said: “He went alone.

“Unsure about why he wanted to cut it short.

“Yes the flights were all booked we’ve seen the confirmations in his emails.”

Mysteriously, family are now focusing their search on Finland capital Helsinki – 5,000 miles from Bangkok.

It comes after a man claiming to be a Thai immigration officer told them he did in fact board a plane.

It’s believed he took a Finnair flight from Bangkok-Helsinki, but never hopped on a connecting jet into the UK.

Family say he was last active on social media at the same time his flight was due to land in Finland .

Finnair would not confirm whether he was a passenger due to customer confidentiality rules.

Family members reported the case to South Yorkshire police, but cops advised they would need to speak with Thai authorities.

It’s not clear whether border-hopping international cops Interpol have been called into the hunt.

Friend Demi Guttesen wrote on Facebook: “Please share. Simon’s whereabouts are still unknown and he is still very much missing but now the focus is on Helsinki, Finland where his connecting flight would have landed at the time he was last active on his social media.

“If anyone has any connections in Helsinki or Finland please let me know. Thank you.”

Sister Sarah Robinson Dale earlier posted: “We have received confirmation that Simon did board the flight on the 26th July.

“A massive thank you to everyone that has shared and the kind people that have found this information out as the authorities at both sides haven’t done anything.

The Foreign Office didn’t comment on Simon specifically, simply saying it stood ready to help any Brit abroad.

It comes after Australian holidaymaker Kieran James Cramer, 28, also vanished in Thailand in July.

He was eventually found in Bangkok but mystery still surrounds the disappearance.

Another Brit vanished in Sardinia in July.

Michael Frison, 25, was said to have left his home on the Italian island “undressed” before disappearing, according to his worried mum.

Budding barrister Ben Ross, 26, went missing in Majorca around the same time.

The Greater Manchester resident was eventually found alive after nearly two weeks.
