Suga of BTS apologized for driving a scooter under the influence. The rapper, born Min Yoongi , was stopped by Seoul police in Yongsan, a district within the city, after falling off a scooter.

BTS’ company Big Hit, under HYBE, released a statement about the incident on the fan platform Weverse . “We apologize for the accident involving BTS member Suga’s electric scooter,” the statement read. “On Tuesday night (June 6), Suga used an electric scooter while wearing a helmet while returning home after drinking alcohol. After traveling about 500 meters, he fell while parking, and was given a ticket and license revocation as a result of a sobriety test by police officers who were nearby. The incident did not result in any personal injury or property damage, and he returned home under police.” His blood alcohol content was above license revocation levels, or at least 0.08 percent, according to The New York Times .

Big Hit said that Suga “is prepared to accept any disciplinary actions from his place of work for causing a social disturbance.” The rapper-producer is currently serving his mandatory military duties. Six out of seven of the BTS members are serving, as Jin was recently discharged in June. Because of an injury, Suga is serving alternate service as a social service agent.

“While I was parking my electric kickboard at the front gate of my house, I fell over by myself,” Suga subsequently wrote in a statement to fans Weverse. “And as a result of the breathalyzer test conducted by a police officer nearby, my license was revoked and a fine was imposed. No one was harmed or any facilities were damaged in the process, but this is my responsibility and I have no excuses, so I bow my head and apologize to everyone.”

The BTS member continued, “I apologize to everyone who has been hurt by my careless and wrong behavior, and I will be more careful with my actions so that this does not happen in the future.”
