Malik Nabers on Historic Start to Giants Career

There's been one constant at training camp with the New York Giants . Malik Nabers is beyond what most expected him to be coming out.
New York took Nabers with the sixth overall pick in the 2024 draft in the hopes he would be the kind of quality top receiver the organization had been searching for decades.
New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers (9) gestures to a referee during training camp at Quest Diagnostics Training Center.
In just two weeks, the LSU star has been more than just a top receiver - he's been the kind of player who can change life forever for the Giants.
SNY Giants reporter Connor Hughes confirmed after the second day of joint practice work with the Detroit Lions that New York's rookie receiver has been unguardable and something unique among NFL circles for the position.
"I’ve never once seen a rookie make such a seamless transition," Hughes said of Nabers. "The college-NFL transition for wideouts isn’t supposed to be easy. Yet here’s Nabers, open seemingly every play and catching everything thrown his way. That’s not hyperbole."
Hughes later explained on Twitter that Nabers was targeted 17 times - almost unheard of during training camp practices. The fact he caught 16 of them shows his prowess already as a top receiver in the game without having to take a snap.
There's going to be an adjustment to the NFL as it happens for all rookies, but Nabers has passed the first team in East Rutherford with playing colors.
