Queen Elizabeth's true feelings about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle revealed in letter

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left the Royal Family , they had many perks taken away from them , including the guaranteed police protection they once had.

Now, Harry's security is funded by taxpayers only when deemed necessary on a "case by case" basis by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC). The Duke of Sussex hasn't shied away from expressing his dissatisfaction with the loss of his security detail and has taken legal action against the Home Office to reclaim it.

In February, the High Court found RAVEC's decision for "bespoke" security measures for Harry to be lawful, but Harry managed to secure permission to challenge this ruling at the Court of Appeal. While Harry's disagreement with the security changes is public knowledge, a letter has now been uncovered which discloses the late Queen Elizabeth's personal stance on the issue.

Following the Sandringham Summit in 2020, where Harry and other senior royals discussed the potential future of the Sussexes if they were to step back from their full-time Royal duties, a letter was penned by the late Queen's private secretary, Sir Edward Young. The letter, addressed to the Cabinet, detailed the discussions that took place and revealed the monarch's true feelings regarding the security of the Sussexes.

The letter stated: "You will understand well that ensuring that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain safe is of paramount importance to Her Majesty and her family. Given the duke's public profile by virtue of being born into the Royal family, his military service, the duchess's own independent profile, and the well-documented history of targeting of the Sussex family by extremists, it is imperative that the family continues to be provided with effective security."

Sir Edward's letter also highlighted that the Queen was fully aware that RAVEC would make the final decision on Harry and Meghan's security independently, after emphasizing how crucial it was for the late monarch that they continue to receive adequate protection.

An excerpt of the letter, as reported by The Metro , was included in a judgment handed down by Mr. Justice Nicklin in a libel case that Harry brought against Associated Newspapers Limited - the publisher of the Daily Mail - over an article the Mail on Sunday published in 2022 about his legal challenge against the Home Office over his security arrangements.
