"I was waving, shaking hands, kissing the babies — doing what I do, you understand me? Putting my foot in the pavement, letting the people know that we're here. We're here for peace, love, unity and great sportsmanship."

Snoop has been a big hit on social media. "My mom called me and told me how much she likes watching Snoop Dogg at the Olympics and I had to remind her that she grounded me for buying his CD once," one fan said.

NBC could continue the turn to influencers and celebrities to increase its online engagement with viewers.

Celebrity presence, including Snoop Dogg's caused a stir in the stables, according to Carl Hester. He said: "I didn't get to meet him, but of course the talk of the stables was that he was here and everyone was looking for him on the camera. It's great he's enjoying dressage and he was here."
