AMERICAN diver Alison Gibson was awarded a score of 0.0 after her feet hit the board during her routine at the Olympic Games.

The USA athlete competed in the 3m springboard preliminaries in Paris on Wednesday as she looked to book her place in the semi-finals.

She ended up finishing last out of the 28 participants with a score of 198.30.

But her fate was all but sealed on the very first of her five dives when she failed to score any points after colliding with the board.

Texas-born Gibson, 25, bounced off the board and proceeded to perform the inward 2½ somersaults in the pike position.

However, as her initial bounce did not propel her far enough, her feet ended up striking the board on the way down.

The impact caused her to lose her form as she crashed into the water.

And a mortified Gibson then had to watch the Olympic judges give her a score of 0.0 as she fell away from contention.

Reacting to the clip, one fan said: “Oh man, what a bummer for Alison Gibson in failing her first dive.”

While another added: “Ow, hope she’s ok.”

A third responded: “She is lucky she had rotated enough to hit her heels instead of her face/head.”

And a fourth said: “So very sad. Hope she’s OK.”

Despite suffering the blow, Gibson completed her remaining four dives – achieving a best score of 68.20.
