Graduations are already pretty emotional, but this Airman burst into tears of joy when he got to meet his brand new baby niece during the ceremony! In a sweet video on social media, mom Katy May shared the moment that her little girl got to meet her uncle for the very first time. Although the man was clearly moved, he had to maintain his composure until he was offically “tapped out.” He could barely hold himself back from crying before he was able to hug his newest family member.

In order to ensure that all graduates depart from the event in an organized manner, family members are asked to release them by tapping them on the shoulder. Until then, they must stand at attention.

Katy May thought the occasion would be even more meaningful if her little girl was the one to tap her uncle out after the ceremony. That’s why she took the baby with her to meet the Airman during this special moment. It turned out to be the best choice, judging by the man’s emotional reaction!

“My baby girl met her uncle for the first time by tapping him out today,” wrote the mom in her video. “Cue the tears.”
