Reese Witherspoon Pens Heartbreaking Tribute After Her Dog 'Hank' Passes

On Tuesday actress Reese Witherspoon, age 48, shared the heartbreaking news on her Instagram stories that her Labrador dog named 'Hank' has sadly passed away.

The beautiful dog had been a member of her family for over 14 years.

Witherspoon's daughter, Ava, shared her own Instagram post which read, "14 ½ years of pure love & constant tail wagging. The job was "family pet" & he excelled at it. Thanks Hanky for reminding us that every day is the best day ever."

Reese Witherspoon wrote in her Instagram stories , "We will miss your sweet spirit, Hank. Thank you for being the best family pet and pack leader."

People are offering their condolences on Ava Witherspoon's Instagram post and one person said, "Sweet Hank. He was the just the happiest and the best. Sending love." Another added, "I'm so sorry Ava. Sending love, this kind of loss is the hardest. He’ll be with you and your family forever." Someone else responded, "Ugh. We always lose a massive chunk of our heart when we lose a pet. They're only a part of our lives, but to them, we are their life. Sending love."

Sadly, this is not the first pup that the Witherspoon family has had to say goodbye to, because in 2020 the family's French Bulldog named Pepper passed away too.

In this post Witherspoon wrote, "Our sweet Pepper passed away yesterday. My goodness, she was such a loyal and devoted family member. I am so heart broken, but I am also deeply grateful for all the love and comfort she brought our family. Now she’s in dog heaven where all great pets go. Chasing tennis balls, running through open fields of wild flowers and being the Queen that she is. That’s what I believe. We will always love you, Pepper."

Also in 2020, Witherspoon welcomed a new French Bulldog into her family that The Morning Show actress named Minnie Pearl.

What is 'The Rainbow Bridge'?

When a dog sadly passes, it is sometimes referred to as crossing the rainbow bridge .

According to RainbowBridge.com, "When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable."

The author of the poem is unknown, but it has been providing comfort to grieving pet owners for years.
