Rapper Big Sean faced a string of hate online after dishing on why he hasn't proposed to his long-time girlfriend Jhené Aiko after eight years of dating and a baby together.

During an interview on the Out of Context podcast with Charlamagne Tha God, Big Sean opened up about his relationship with Jhené and the reason why he still isn't ready to get down on one knee. This comes as the famous musical couple have been dating on-and-off since 2016 and welcomed their two-year-old son Noah Hasani together. Jhené is also a mother to her 15-year-old son Namiko, whom she shares with singer O’Ryan.

When asked why he still isn't keen on putting a ring on it, Big Sean explained: "It's a little personal, you know what I mean? But just like to be real with you, just like any people who have dealt with love, we've had our ups and downs, you know what I'm saying? And I think it's still finding the right navigation through it all.”

He continued, "I feel like a lot of people get the idea of like, 'Oh, you have to get married,' but then it's like, to me, that's almost a fear-based way of thinking, too. Because then people be getting divorced. The divorce rate’s so f------ high."

Without revealing too much about their private relationship, the Bounce Back hitmaker made it clear that while marriage is still on the table for them in the future. During the vulnerable chat, the rapper explained he feels that there "needs to be more work done" and that he believes marriage symbolizes "the best relationship."

And while Big Sean seems to have his own reasons for not moving forward with not solidifying their future together, fans have taken to social media slamming his explanation. Under a viral clip of the moment circulating on TikTok, one critic commented: "I think so many women want to be in 'love' to the point that they forget the courting process. They end up giving and accepting everything a man gives and requests from them with little in return."

And another added: "Big Sean should've just kept his mouth closed." And another chimed in: "And he can't even give the 'I'm just not in a place financially' excuse." And a fourth joked: "I'm ready and I don't even know Jhené." And someone else joked: "I agree it hasn't been that long so he needs time."
