Fresh off announcing their anticipated debut album Highly Irresponsible, Every Time I Die/Dillinger Escape Plan supergroup Better Lovers have now announced a headlining tour behind it for this fall. They’re bringing along a stacked cast of openers, including Full of Hell on most dates, Gouge Away on the final five dates, and Spy and Cloakroom on all dates. Tickets go on sale Friday (8/9) at 10 AM local time.

Adrianne Lenker of Big Thief released her new solo album, Bright Future (one of our favorites of 2024 so far) back in March, and she’s now followed it with a new single, “Once a Bunch.” The tender, homespun folk song was recorded during the same sessions as Bright Future, and previously appeared on the Japanese CD version. It’ll be out as a 7″ in the fall, available at independent record stores.

Bright Eyes‘ highly anticipated new album Five Dice, All Threes is out in September (pre-order on red and orange vinyl), and they’ve given us a second early taste with “Rainbow Overpass,” a raw, urgent track featuring Alex Orange Drink of The So So Glos. “Alex and I wrote a lot of the songs together, but ‘Rainbow Overpass’ is the only one he gets [to sing] a verse,” Conor Oberst says. “He’s kinda like my hype man, getting a little Beastie Boys on the shit! They grew up on punk rock and the Beasties, so there are a lot of little bursts of other voices. I like that. It creates energy. Sometimes music can feel flat until you get into a live situation, when there’s adrenaline and raw energy. Instead of working in reverse, where that happens as we tour, I was trying to get some of that energy onto the record.”

What makes this unmistakably The Wolfgang Press, however, is Michael Allen’s voice which slips between a whispery baritone and plaintive wails. It’s good to have them back.
