With training camp nearing an end, and the preseason set to begin this weekend, the Las Vegas Raiders ' roster is beginning to take shape.
This is always a difficult time of the year for coaches and general managers, as they're tasked with trimming the team's roster down from over 90 players all the way down to 53.
The team's roster got a little bit bigger on Tuesday, when it was reported the Raiders were adding Dax Milne:
Tafur, a Raiders' insider, lists a couple of stats for Milne. As a receiver, they aren't too plentiful, but Milne hasn't had a ton of chances , to be fair to him. Through his two years in the league, Milne has only received 21 total targets with the Washington Commanders .
However, one area in which Milne has made a massive impact is in the punt return game. It was this area of the game in which he was truly able to prove himself.
Milne actually ended up returning the most punts of any player in the league in 2023, with 40. He did pretty solid, averaging 7.8 yards per return, and finishing with a total of 311 return yards.
With that in mind, the NFL implemented new kickoff rules this offseason, which should make the kickoff a much more prevalent part of the game than it has been before.
It looks like this is the main reasoning behind the Raiders signing Milne. There are a couple of players already on the Raiders' roster who could return kicks for the team next year, and it looks like they've decided to add Milne to the mix.
