Today, Jason Aldean has nearly 30 No. 1 singles, five GRAMMY nominations, and three ACM Entertainer of the Year titles under his belt. The “Big Green Tractor” singer is at the top of his game with no plans of stopping anytime soon. However, there was a time when the 47-year-old Macon, Georgia native struggled to keep a roof over his head—until one song changed his life.

Struggle is a key component of many country stars’ Nashville journeys. Jason Aldean was no different. The “She’s Country” singer, then 21, moved to Nashville in 1998 after signing with Warner-Chappell. From there, he faced a series of unfortunate events that continually thwarted his dream.

By the time his oldest daughter was born in 2003, Aldean was squarely in survival mode.

“I wasn’t thinking long-term,” he recently told Taste Of Country Nights: On Demand. “It was like, ‘I need to get this song going just so I can generate some money to, like, keep from losing my house and to be able to buy diapers.’ Those kind of things.”

“I was very much small potatoes, going, ‘I need to make 5 grand, so I need to make 5 grand today somehow, how does this happen?’” Aldean continued. “It was more like survival.”

In 2005, Aldean’s luck turned. Having grown frustrated with his flailing career, the “Dirt Road Anthem” singer gave himself six months before moving back to Georgia. Just five weeks later, he signed with Broken Bow Records. His debut single, “Hicktown,” reached No. 10 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country charts.

“For it to turn into what it has, I never … I dunno, maybe I was just kind of naïve to the point of thinking that it could ever become this,” Jason Aldean said.

Man Tackled By Police After Crashing Stage Mid-Jason Aldean Performance

Jason Aldean is currently in the midst of his Highway Desperado tour. Recently, one fan got a little overzealous during the country star’s July 25 show at Enmarket Arena in Savannah, Georgia.

A man rushed the stage as Aldean was performing, getting as far as the edge before police and security tackled him.

The man did not face charges, but is now banned from both Enmarket Arena and Ticketmaster.
