Simone Biles Reveals What She Learned From Each Of Her Olympic Performances

Simone Biles is the most-decorated U.S. gymnast in the sport’s history, and each time she’s appeared at an Olympic Games, she’s made headlines one way or another.

A veteran of the Rio Games in 2016, the Tokyo Games in 2020 and the Paris Games in 2024, Biles has had her moments at each, and during a recent interview with NBC’s Lester Holt, Biles opened up about which Olympics performance stood out the most to her.

“I think they all played a different, special part in my career,” Biles said . “Tokyo taught me a lot about who I am, what I stand for and how to take care of myself mentally and physically. And then Paris was just a lot of fun, and Rio established who I was, who I wanted to be and what I wanted to do with the rest of my career.”

Rio was the most successful of Biles Olympic performances. She won gold in four events — team, all-around, vault and floor — plus a bronze in the balance beam event.

She left Paris with four new medals — three gold (team, all-round and vault) and one silver (floor) — and collected just two in Tokyo (silver in team and bronze in balance beam) before withdrawing to take care of her mental health.

Biles’ 11 Olympic medals are more than any other U.S. gymnast, and her seven gold medals are just two away from tying Larisa Latynina for the most in gymnastics history.
