Samu Omorodion has sparked speculation about a potential move to Chelsea with a cryptic social media post.

The 20-year-old forward, who is currently on the radar of Enzo Maresca for a summer transfer to the Premier League , had an impressive stint at Deportivo Alaves last season while on loan from Atletico Madrid. During his time at Alaves, Omorodion made 34 appearances in La Liga, netting eight goals and providing one assist.

His contributions were instrumental in helping Luis Garcia Plaza's side secure a 10th-place finish, avoiding relegation after their promotion. His standout performances have attracted attention from several top-tier European clubs.

According to football.london , Chelsea has been in discussions with Atletico regarding a possible transfer for Omorodion. The Blues are believed to have proposed a £34 million ($43.2 million) bid, inclusive of add-ons, but it wasn't accepted.

Despite Omorodion having four years remaining on his current contract, Atletico is keen to secure him on a new deal. But he seems to have given a clue about his future in the Spanish capital. While on international duty at the Olympics, Pablo Barrios took to Instagram to share a selfie with the Blues target, complete with a red heart emoji and a blowing nose emoji.

Omorodion responded by reposting the image to his own Instagram story, accompanied by a caption that has left fans speculating: "Mi hermano (crying emoji and broken heart emoji)."

Although it could simply be a show of emotion as the Olympic tournament in Paris draws to a close, with Spain set to face France for the gold medal, some supporters are reading into it as a hint that Omorodion might be parting ways with his Atletico teammate.

In the run-up to Chelsea's last pre-season game in the States against Real Madrid, boss Maresca was quizzed by journalists about any specific areas he'd like to bolster before the transfer window slams shut. "No, no," he replied.

"In this moment, we are trying different things in terms of one game we play with the right full-back inside, then the left full-back inside, and the last game we played with the left full-back higher.

"In terms of the number nine, we play with Guiu and Christoph (Nkunku). In terms of the winger we played with [Tyrique] George, the young guy from the academy. We are trying different things. For sure, the club and me are together, we know what we need before we finish the transfer window."
