The hosts of the “Earn Your Leisure” podcast are finally giving context to what happen with the $1 million commitment that they were promised from Sean “Diddy” Combs. According to one of the business gurus, it was a quiet storm of scandal and the disgraced music mogul’s legal team that put a full stop to the seven-figure investment that could have changed the lives for many.

    Diddy, Show Them The Money

In August 2023, Combs announced he was investing $1 million to the financial literacy platform to establish its investment fund. The “EYL” hosts Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings, who also hosted a show on the Revolt TV network called “Assets Over Liabilities,” would manage the fund and come up with ideas to make it grow in various ways.

Profits from the fund’s investments were initially intended for three Capital Preparatory Schools in New York and Connecticut, which Combs had previously supported, but those grand plans were never materialized and the Bad Boy founder’s team never sent the check.

Bilal and Millings, who are the hosts for an upcoming annual conference called InvestFest, recently appeared on “The Breakfast Club” with DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God, and Jess Hilarious to explain the ordeal, hoping to clarify the narrative around the failed business deal.

Bilal detailed the original plan, Combs giving them $1 million to invest on his behalf.

Revolt, at the time, was owned partially by the Mount Vernon native, and executives from the network told the partners that their boss wanted to invest the $1 million with them. They had bigger visions than to just give them money for their brand.

“We were like, ‘Nah let’s do something a little bit more creative… like let’s shoulder in real time, be transparent, and break it up,’” Bilal said.

They planned to invest money in ideas that would yield immediate profit, suggesting putting some of the money in the stock market, buy a multifamily home in Louisiana, and fund an entrepreneur in Texas to start a gas station. This approach aimed to demonstrate how the $1 million could grow, with Diddy intending to donate his share of the profits to charity, while the other half would return to Earn Your Leisure.

The announcement was supposed to take place at InvestFest, where Combs would present the check on stage. However, the process faced delays.

“It’s important to educate the audience, right? Like so when they do like those big Kinko’s checks… you can’t take that check into Bank of America and cash it,” Bilal clarified. “Then after that, lawyers have to kind of work out the final agreement. … It took a couple of weeks, but it took a couple of months. We never got it.”

    The funds were never transferred.

Bilal noted that while Combs called to check on the status, his team’s due diligence caused delays.

“From InvestFest in August to October, we still didn’t get it. And then in November, everything happened, and I knew it was over,” Bilal stated. “We never got the physical money.”

    Troubles of A Bad Boy

In November 2023, Sean “Diddy” Combs faced a torrent of legal troubles as multiple sexual assault and trafficking lawsuits were filed against him. Allegations depicted him not only as a violent domestic partner but also as a predator who trapped his victims through manipulation and exploitation of their aspirations in the music industry.

One lawsuit, dating back to 1991, involved a woman who claimed Combs drugged and sexually assaulted her while she was a college student. Another high-profile case was settled for an undisclosed amount with his ex-girlfriend, Cassie. This case resurfaced in headlines following the leak of a video showing Combs violently assaulting Cassie during their relationship, an incident referenced in her civil lawsuit.

Federal investigations into Combs’ activities intensified, leading to a Homeland Security raid in March 2024 on his Holmby Hills mansion in Los Angeles and his Miami residence.

The raid at his Holmby Hills property involved agents arriving with drawn weapons, causing significant property damage while seizing electronics and conducting thorough searches.

Combs’ legal team’s criticism of the raid as an “excessive show of force.”

Amid these legal battles, Combs listed his Holmby Hills mansion for sale, asking for $70 million — over $30 million above his 2014 purchase price.

This move coincided with yet another lawsuit filed against him.

Former adult film star Adria English sued Combs, claiming he groomed her for sex trafficking at one of his annual Labor Day white parties. English claims she was coerced into taking narcotics and sexually exploited for five years between 2004 and 2009 by Combs, a woman named Tamika Thomas, and Jacob Arabov, known as “Jacob the Jeweler.”

This lawsuit is the tenth filed against Combs since November 2023. Combs’ legal team has denied all allegations.

A grand jury is currently reviewing the accusations leveled against the fallen star. He has not been formally charged in any of the 10 cases.
