Taylor Swift’s fans are melting over the selfless gesture that one Swiftie’s fiancé made after the pop star canceled three scheduled shows due to concerns about a suspected terror plot .
The “Fortnight” songstress planned to bring her hit international Eras Tour to Vienna, Austria, for three consecutive nights at Ernst Happel Stadium. But on Wednesday, August 7, just one day before the first show was due to kick off, Austrian authorities alerted the public that they had arrested two individuals suspected of plotting a terrorist attack. The plot might have targeted a major event, such as one of Swift’s concerts, authorities said.
Though police initially said they would heighten security so the shows could go on, Swift’s team didn’t take long before deciding to cancel the performances.
“We have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety,” the 14-time Grammy Award winner’s team said in a statement shared on social media. Fans who purchased tickets for the concerts were told to expect a refund within 10 business days.
As news of the canceled shows spread, one Swiftie took to X, formerly Twitter, to alert fans who were looking forward to attending a Vienna Eras Tour show that one lucky person could still see the “Cruel Summer” singer perform, albeit not as they had planned.
“[S]o my sweet fiancé just offered his ticket for London N5 (16th August) for anyone who had a ticket to Vienna and who hasn’t seen Taylor before,” the fan tweeted . They identified the cost of the ticket and noted whoever took up the offer would be seated next to them. “I promise I’m very nice so comment below and I’ll pick someone 🩷,” they added.
The tweet drew a wave of emotional reactions from fans online, many of whom began nominating people for the London ticket in their comments on the post.
“This is so kind of you to do 🩷,” one person gushed as a Swift fan account agreed, writing, “this is so incredibly kind of your fiancé!!”
One person declared that “this is the kind of positivity we need!”
Another fan who noted they had planned to attend Swift’s Thursday show in Vienna wrote that though the cancellation was “heartbreaking” it was “so nice you’re doing that.”

Less than one hour after Swifties were alerted to the London offer, the person whose fiancé volunteered their ticket announced that they had picked someone.
“[A]lright my loves I have picked someone for the ticket! I’m so sorry to those I didn’t pick, I would’ve taken all of you if I could and I hope you all find a way to see taylor ❤️,” they wrote .
