During the latest episode of The Draymond Green Show, the Golden State Warriors forward talked about France's decision to bench Rudy Gobert during their quarterfinal game against France in the 2024 Olympics .

Although the Olympic hosts won the matchup and advanced to the semifinals, Green says that it's crazy how someone who plays in the NBA suddenly gets benched in a win-or-go-home game in front of the entire nation.

" France had a very interesting plot twist going on," said Green. "Big Rudy Gobert said he had surgery on his finger or something. France's coach said he thought that the matchups were an issue. And so Rudy didn't start because of the matchups. We don't know what's true. I don't think we have any reason to believe Rudy's lying, except for the coach saying that it was for matchups."

Rudy Gobert got benched against Canada

After figuring prominently for France during the group stages, Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert literally got benched on Tuesday in a win-or-go-home game against Canada. Although France won that game, Green thinks it wasn't a good look for the Stifle Tower.

Gobert averaged 21 minutes per game of playing time in three group games, averaging 6 points, 6.33 rebounds, and 2.66 blocks per game. But not only did he not get the start against Canada, he also played just three-plus minutes in the game.

"And in the three minutes that Rudy checked in, Shai started getting off. Wemby had a rough night. But the coach said, 'I can't have both of my bigs not playing great. Well, you decide who got to go. I know who I'd pick. But I'll leave it to you to pick. But like to be taken out of the lineup or any other team in the Olympics as an NBA player, not named Team USA is kind of crazy," added Green.

Green and Gobert have a history

While it's true that Gobert's benching might have been a little nuts, Draymond making a big issue out of it is even crazier. However, it's no surprise why Green took a shot at Gobert because the two have a history.

It can be recalled that Green infamously choked Gobert during an altercation in a game between the Warriors and Timberwolves in the NBA last season. That action earned Green a five-game suspension and was a precursor to his indefinite suspension, which came later.

After the incident, Green said he didn't regret choking the Frenchman . Gobert later replied by pitying Dray, calling him 'not well on the inside and suffering.' It looked as if the issue between the two had been a natural death after Green's suspension, but Draymond isn't over it yet.
