Jin from BTS has been named a global brand ambassador for Gucci.

Jin is expected to represent Gucci across a variety of initiatives and events. “Gucci is an iconic brand with a long-standing heritage and modernity,” Jin said in a release. “It is meaningful and thrilling to be a part of such a house.”

The singer expressed admiration for Gucci’s creative director Sabato De Sarno, according to a release from the brand, who in turn noted his excitement about Jin taking on the role. “His warm and kind personality is truly magnetic, and his style is simply unique,” De Sarno said in a release. “He is a generous and extraordinary artist who is able to move people with his music, which makes us even more honored to share this journey with him.”

As the eldest in the seven-piece K-pop supergroup, Jin was the first group member to return to the public eye last month following the completion of his 18-month mandatory military service. The other six members are currently serving.

After he was discharged, Jin took part in a few select events, including one where 1,000 fans, selected through a raffle, got the chance to hug the singer. Big Hit Music, the group’s label, made an announcement on their fan platform Weverse , in part saying: “This event was prepared in order to fulfill Jin’s wish to spend meaningful time with ARMY in person on BTS’ debut day.”

The singer also participated in the 2024 Paris Olympics Torch Relay as a torchbearer from South Korea, his first major event since his discharge. Fans of the group, dubbed ARMY, were seen lining up to catch a glimpse of Jin holding the torch.

In October 2022, Jin and his fellow group members — RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook — performed a massive free concert, titled “Yet to Come,” in Busan, South Korea. The concert, which was in support of the Korean city’s bid for the 2030 World Expo, brought legions of ARMY from around the world.

Days after the performance, Big Hit Music, which is a subsidiary of Hybe Corp., announced that all seven members would be moving forward with plans to fulfill their military service , saying it was “the perfect time” and that the group’s members were honored to serve.

BTS is expected to reunite as a full group in 2025 when all seven members have been discharged.
