The 2024 Summer Olympics have brought about some memorable athlete celebrations, and Canada's Alysha Newman just added to the list.

Moments after securing the bronze medal in the women's pole vault final in Paris, the 30-year-old began running toward the crowd before momentarily pausing to twerk in celebration.

A video of the interaction posted to X (formerly Twitter) was viewed over 1 million times in the first three hours after the event.

Newman's final jump to clear 4.85 meters (15 feet, 10.9 inches) also set a new Canadian pole vault record. The bronze medal was the first of her Olympic career.

“I’m injured constantly but I never give up. I never stop. I know I’m one of the best in the world and tonight I proved that," Newman told the CBC broadcast after medaling.

The former University of Miami graduate previously missed qualifying at the Rio Olympics in 2016 and in Tokyo in 2021. She has also caught attention online leading up to the 2024 Olympics because of her OnlyFans account .

Finishing just ahead of Newman for the silver medal was Team USA's Katie Moon, who cleared 15 feet, 11 inches on Wednesday and was the gold medalist during the Tokyo Olympics.

This time around, Australia's Nina Kennedy elevated to 16 feet, ¾ inches on her final attempt to bring home the gold.
