With a terrible offense in 2023, the Las Vegas Raiders found it really hard to get their rookies involved. Well, really they found it hard to get anyone involved. The offense was that bad, and, for all we know, it could be the same. But, with the offensive weapons they drafted, there was no real way for those guys to get in a groove.

So, Tre Tucker, Michael Mayer, and company really didn't have many crazy highlights or anything like that. They had a few plays here and there, but nothing special, and their stats reflected that, too. Well, besides one play, and I think we all know where this is going.

When the Las Vegas Raiders hosted the New York Jets two games after the Raiders fired Josh McDaniels, fireworks were in the stadium for one play, which saw one of their rookies score his first touchdown of the year.

You may remember this perfectly, but Michael Mayer skied high for a catch that had him grabbing the ball out of the air over the defender to catch a touchdown. It was electric, and still, one of the best scores from the Raiders last year, which admittedly isn't saying much. Either way, it was one hell of a play.

Recently during training camp down in Southern California , while all the hype has been on rookie tight end Brock Bowers, and rightfully so, for his impressive catches , Mayer has been having a good training camp. He even had a play that would look very familiar.

On a play that saw Mayer almost recreate the same exact catch but this time near the out-of-bounds line, Mayer showed that he is still way more athletic than people give him credit for. Now, hopefully, we can see that more often in this offense than we did last year.
