There is probably no bigger controversy in the Olympics right now -- or at least in the world of gymnastics -- than Jordan Chiles winning a bronze medal in Monday's floor final.
Chiles, who was supposed to finish fifth, had her final score changed by the judges at the last minute, thereby allowing her to leapfrog two Romanian competitors to secure her first-ever individual Olympic medal.
There has, understandably, been a major outcry surrounding this controversial decision. The camp of Sabrina Voinea, one of the two teenage Romanian gymnasts who were denied a potential spot on the podium, has been very vocal about their feelings on this stunning turn of events.
Voeinea's mother, Camelia Voinea, has taken to social media to voice out her anger over all this. Camelia, who herself is a silver medalist in the 1988 Seoul Olympics, did not hold back as she declared her intention to take matters into her own hands.
"I will address the [Court for Arbitration for Sport] and child protection for the injustice created," an excerpt from Camelia's lengthy post read, as translated by Meta. "Is it normal for the [Romanian Gymnastics Federation] not to defend Sabrina's rights?"
Camelia's main complaint stems from the fact that Sabrina was penalized with a 0.1-point deduction after supposedly stepping out of bounds during her routine. However, video evidence posted by Camelia seems to suggest otherwise.
Camelia is clearly incensed by the notion that her daughter was robbed of a place in history. So much so that she also implied Sabrina's retirement from the sport.
The scorned mother is determined to take action here, and it appears that she's willing to go to great lengths to seek justice for her daughter.
