When Josh Allen talks , we listen. During today's press conference, Allen was asked about the preseason that Zach Davidson has had, and his response was very telling.

Josh Allen continues the preseason hype for Zach Davidson

Davidson has been making plenty of big plays all throughout training camp, and Allen apparently has been paying attention.

"He's been making plays, ya know, he's been popping on film. Whatever way you look at it, he's making [Brandon] Beane's decisions very, very difficult. He's done enough where guys in every room are like 'man, this guy's out there making plays,' he's a 6'6", 6'7" guy that can move, can go up and catch the ball – again, another guy that is running to the football after the play, making the extra block, doing the things the right way that you'd love to have those type of guys on your team. It'll be a big preseason for him, and hopefully he can go out there and make some plays for us," Allen said.

This most recent quote coming just a day after speaking about Davidson's work ethic.

"He's got he's got a lot of juice. I don't know if he's got the greatest dance moves, but he tries really hard, and we love him for it. But again, he does all the right things. He's working extremely hard in the weight room, in walkthroughs, special teams – you know, he's one of the sweatier guys out there, because he's just always pedal to the metal, balls to the wall," Allen said Tuesday.

For a roster bubble guy, getting endorsements from Allen on consecutive day means a lot, and when it comes to the eventual roster decisions by Beane, Allen's word might carry a little bit of weight as Davidson continues to make a legitimate run at a roster spot .

Davidson is fighting for the TE3 spot on the 53-man roster

Last season, the Bills carried three tight ends on their roster. This year, the top two spots are obviously locked in with Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox. That third and final spot in the position group, however, is a true preseason battle between Davidson and Quintin Morris, the latter of whom has played in 29 games for the Bills, with a total of 10 catches for 110 yards and two touchdowns.

Davidson has been with the Bills on the practice squad since September of 2022, so the front office and coaching staff both have plenty of familiarity with both options. This could truly come down to who flashes more in their opportunities in preseason action, making this position group one to key in on as the first of three preseason games gets underway this Saturday.
