Rebeca Andrade is fast becoming a household name in the world of gymnastics after her gold medal victory over American superstars Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles earlier this week.

Andrade, who hails from the Brazilian city of Guarulhos on the outskirts of Sao Paulo, was given the royal treatment by Biles and Chiles as they bowed to her, putting a neat bow on the first ever all-black podium at a women's gymnastics event.

Following the victory, Andrade's comments were shared on winning her first gold medal over the Olympics legend Biles in Paris. "I think it's not just about beating Simone, it's about beating myself," Andrade said .

The Brazilian superstar also won two silver medals and a bronze medal in Paris. She said she wasn't focusing on Simone as much as she was competing against her own standards of personal excellence.

"My fight is in my head, it's not with other people," Andrade said.

"To be able to perform my routines, I need to control my mind, my body, and that's the fight because Simone and I encourage each other, we want to give our best, so my fight is always with myself."
