Post-victory, Harrington didn't leave Roland Garros till past 2am on account of obligatory anti-doping protocols, which led her to a McDonald's pick-me-up and marked the start of a day spent within the Olympic Village alongside her spouse Mandy.
Chatting to RTE Radio 1's Morning Ireland, the Portand Row pugilist recounted: "I had to go and do anti-doping tests, which is great. I think that should be absolutely vital that everyone gets tested so we didn't get out of there until two o'clock and then we went and had a McDonald's, but it was like I was doing a meet-and-greet in McDonald's."
The encounter, swarmed by the French, might have been splendid, but sleep was off the cards for Kellie until the following night, turning her into somewhat 'a zombie' ambling about the Olympic Village.
Adding on, she said: "I didn't actually get to see much people yesterday because I was just in the room and everyone was doing all their own things and stuff, but I seen Mandy and I was just delighted to see Mandy. We got her into the Olympic Village on a day pass so she got to experience that as well."
Mandy expressed her immense pride in her partner following the "emotional" victory, remarking: "It's just magic. It's very emotional, completely emotional."
She continued: "It was just magic to see them all smiling, dancing, happy and it's just such a relief. They got what they deserved, they got what they worked for, they got what they came for and nobody deserves it more."
When questioned about their celebration plans, Mandy answered: "I think we're just so tired, we'll probably not sleep and just enjoy it, relax, hopefully see Kellie, make sure she's okay, kind of just take it day by day and have the little wins."
"We can't wait to celebrate with her. That's the main thing."
