HBO’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has announced seven more actors and the roles they’ll play in the Game of Thrones prequel / House of the Dragon sequel.

The casting news includes an actor playing Daeron Targaryen. That’s a familiar name — though not a familiar face — to House of the Dragon fans. But as is often the case in George R.R. Martin’s fantasy world, there is more than one Daeron Targaryen, and this is not the same Daeron as the one in House of the Dragon .

The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Daeron will be played by Henry Ashton ( A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder ). This Daeron, also called Daeron the Drunken, is the eldest son of King Maekar I Targaryen and is known for having prophetic dreams.

In Dragon , Daeron is King Viserys and Alicent Hightower’s fourth child, who has been kept offscreen in the series, yet is occasionally referenced. The inclusion of Daeron in the show has been the subject of much speculation among fans. Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal has previously said of the character in his series, “Daeron has not been cast yet. I’ve said he’s a character in the show, but at this point in the story, he’s in Oldtown where he was warded off as a young child. So we don’t have a point-of-view character in that world yet and there is no dramatic reason to go there.”

Here are the other newly announced actors for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and their roles:

Edward Ashley ( Masters of the Air ) as Ser Steffon Fossoway.

Youssef Kerkour ( House of Gucci ) as Steely Pate.

Daniel Monks ( Kaos ) as Ser Manfred Dondarrion.

Shaun Thomas ( How to Have Sex ) as Raymun Fossoway.

Tom Vaughan-Lawlor ( Avengers: Infinity War ) as Plummer.

Danny Webb ( The Regime ) as Ser Arlan of Pennytree.

The official description of the show: “A century before the events of Game of Thrones , two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros … a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”

The six-episode first season is an adaptation of Martin’s novella The Hedge Knight and stars Peter Claffey as Dunk and Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg. The show is co-created by Martin and showrunner Ira Parker.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is expected to premiere in 2025.
