A former Liverpool ace who helped the Reds win the 2005 Champions League crown has resurfaced on social media sporting a very different look to his playing days .

The ex-Premier League forward won seven major trophies playing for teams across Europe. He also made a whopping 93 appearances for his country too, netting 41 goals - five of which came during Euro 2004 that saw him finish as the tournament's top scorer.

And despite having ditched his old look, Liverpool fans will always be able to recognise Czech striker Milan Baros, who is the striker in question. Now 42, Baros popped up on Instagram sporting a different look to his iconic long locks and alice band combination he was famous for.

During his impressive career, Baros bagged 177 goals in 556 games, 27 of which came whilst playing for Liverpool. He also turned out for Aston Villa and Portsmouth too following the end of his spell at Anfield .

The Czech forward was part of the legendary Liverpool side who won the 2005 Champions League final in Istanbul which saw Rafa Benitez's Reds somehow overturn a 3-0 deficit to beat a stacked AC Milan side boasting the likes of Paolo Maldini, Alessandro Nesta, Jaap Stam, Cafu, Andrea Pirlo, Kaka, Clarence Seedorf and Andriy Shevchenko.

Baros was replaced on 85 minutes for Djibril Cisse, with Liverpool going on to win the final on penalties. And the ex-Liverpool star was also involved in the famous 'ghost goal' at Anfield that saw the Reds go through 1-0 on aggregate against Chelsea in the semi-final.

It was Baros who raced in behind the Chelsea defence, latching on to a ball from Steven Gerrard to put him one on one with Petr Cech. While Baros was unable to lift the ball into the net past Cech, his teammate Luis Garcia latched onto a loose ball to 'score' for Liverpool.

Of course, now we know the ball never crossed the line but that didn't matter to Garcia, Baros and the Liverpool supporters that evening who booked their place in the final in Istanbul.

Following his two extra spells in the Premier League , Baros also played a season-and-a-half for Lyon before moving to Turkey to join Galatasaray in 2008. And then after that, he finished up his playing days after a making a number of moves across the Czechia, hanging up his boots in 2020.

Liverpool.com says: "Thank goodness VAR and goal-line technology didn't exist in 2005. While Chelsea had every right to be aggrieved by the 'ghost goal' decision, there's no doubt that Liverpool's performance in the 2005 Champions League final is the greatest comeback in football history."
