Is Steelers coach Mike Tomlin somehow keeping a secret?

AUG 8 FREAK OUT Green Bay will travel to Cleveland and face the Browns on Saturday afternoon in the preseason opener.

And what is Packers coach Matt LaFleur looking for here from his young guys?

Mostly for them to not "freak out.''

"You’d like to see whatever they’re doing to prepare for that game,'' the coach said.“The game doesn’t change. You want them to be able to take what they’re doing in practice and apply it to the game and not go out there and do something that they don’t practice. And which is, many times, the case; it’s just human nature. Guys sometimes will freak out when they get into those environments.

AUGUST 7 - STEELERS QB REVEALED? - With the preseason set to begin for teams around the league heading into the weekend, teams are releasing their initial depth charts.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of those teams that have released their first depth chart for the upcoming season. While there is still plenty of time for it to change before Week 1, it didn't feature many surprises, including at quarterback, where many predicted throughout the offseason that Russell Wilson would be the listed starter.

Wilson's listing as the starter for the Cleveland Browns ' rival is despite having missed the first two weeks of training camp due to a calf injury. However, even with Justin Fields receiving more reps with the first-team offense than originally planned, he hasn't been able to unseat Wilson, at least yet.

AUGUST 6 - NO 'RUSH' The Cleveland Browns will finally play in a football game this Sunday when they kick off their preseason against the Green Bay Packers . However, it wasn't until Tuesday that a decision was made on quarterback Deshaun Watson's status.

While speaking with the media, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski revealed that Watson would indeed sit out the team's preseason opener versus the Packers, as Jameis Winston will get the start instead. Yet, just because the former first-round pick won't play versus the Packers doesn't mean he won't see action later in the preseason.

Stefanski left the door open for Watson to possibly play versus the Minnesota Vikings or Seattle Seahawks.

AUGUST 5 - WALKTHROUGH ROOM While the Cleveland Browns front office focused on improving their roster this offseason, renovations were also taking place inside their practice facility. The new improvements were finished up ahead of the start of training camp, which has now given the Browns a chance to show them off.

The team gave the media a tour of the renovated parts of the facility, including their innovative "walkthrough room." As it sounds, this meeting room reportedly features a pair of 25-yard screens that allow players to watch the film and line up where they would on the field.

Other new additions to the facility include a new weight room and player lounge.

AUGUST 5 - 4 TO 3 - On his first practice of training camp, Cleveland Browns receiver Jerry Jeudy didn't wait long to make his presence known.

After being sidelined with a leg injury at the start of camp, which saw him miss the first two weeks of practice, Jeudy returned on Sunday and soon after started catching passes from his new quarterback, Deshaun Watson.

As shared on social media by the Browns, Watson, who in his right is still overcoming an injury, found the former Denver Broncos first-round pick on a deep ball Sunday.

Fans and the team alike will hope that this highlight from practice is just a sign of things to come from Watson and one of his newest receivers. Jeudy joined the Browns this offseason in a trade from the Broncos, which saw Cleveland give up just a fifth and sixth-round pick.

It could very well become a low-cost, high-reward deal that the Browns' fans look back on fondly like they do currently with the Amari Cooper trade.

AUGUST 4 - 'FULL GO' - Despite trading for him this offseason, the Cleveland Browns have yet to see former Denver Broncos first-round receiver Jerry Jeudy take the field as a full participant. However, that is set to change Sunday, according to a report from the Orange and Brown Report's Noah Weiskopf.

After being sidelined with a leg injury since the start of camp, Jeudy will be a "full go" during Sunday's practice, according to Weiskopf.

"He’ll participate in positional drills, as well as 7-on-7’s and 11-on-11’s," Weiskopf wrote on Twitter.

It is certainly big news for the Browns' offense, which has already seen quarterback Deshaun Watson return from his shoulder injury while tight end David Njoku was held out to start camp.

Meanwhile, star receiver Amari Cooper has been a "full go" since the beginning of camp following his minicamp holdout. This holdout didn't extend into training camp, as he got his desired pay raise. But now, the Browns offense will get one step closer to being full strength.

AUGUST 3 - DIESCH SIGNS IN NE - Former Cleveland Browns offensive tackle Kellen Diesch has a new home in the northeast.

On Friday, the New England Patriots signed Diesch and safety A.J. Thomas to their 90-man training camp roster, releasing tackle Tyrone Wheatley Jr. and running back Deshaun Fenwick to make room.

Diesch was claimed off waivers by the Browns after being cut by the Steelers in May. The former Arizona State Sun Devil spent two days on the Cleveland roster before being waived.

AUGUST 2 - TV DEAL— Since 2015, WEWS News 5 has been the exclusive home to coverage of the Cleveland Browns preseason games. And that isn't set to change anytime soon, as the two parties announced Thursday they've agreed to a contract extension.

“We look forward to continuing to collaborate with News 5 and providing Browns fans across the Cleveland market with compelling content, giving them exclusive access to our players, coaches, and the entire organization,” said Erica Muhleman, the Browns Senior Vice President of Corporate Partnerships about the extension.

“News 5 has been an outstanding programming partner, and we are looking forward to continuing to work together with them as our flagship television station this season and beyond.”

The television coverage from WEWS News 5 goes beyond just coverage of preseason games, which they will air all of this year for the Browns, but they also provide other exclusive coverage year-round, giving fans a more in-depth look at their team.

The Browns have just over a week until they kick off their preseason with their August 10 matchup with the Green Bay Packers . The Browns will host the Packers inside Cleveland Browns Stadium, where kickoff is scheduled for 4:25 p.m.
