Fort Walton Beach Police Department investigating a traffic homicide

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – Fort Walton Beach police officers responded to a traffic crash at the intersection of State Road 189 and Garnett Ave NE on Saturday.

In a news release, the crash happened at approximately 5 p.m, a Harley motorcycle was traveling northbound on SR 189 when it collided with a pickup truck. The pickup truck attempted to enter the roadway from Garnett Avenue onto SR 189 to travel south, officials said.

The motorcycle was operated by Russell Jaques and Joshua Moore driving the Dodge Ram pickup truck. Both are from Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene. Jaques was pronounced deceased on the scene by EMS, investigators confirmed.

The Fort Walton Beach Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case.
