    Man Arrested After Assaulting Deputies at Hospital

    FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – A Stafford man is now behind bars after assaulting two deputies.  

    According to a media release from the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), the incident occurred August 28, 2024. 

    At approximately 8:55 p.m., a SCSO deputy was at Mary Washington Hospital for an unrelated matter, when he heard a male screaming what he described as “homicidal statements.” 

    As the deputy went to investigate, he observed an male subject, later identified as Philip Tylermanah Erikson, throw a metal tray at a nurse. 

    The deputy attempted to detain Erikson, who resisted and assaulted him. After a brief struggle, Erikson was detained.  .  

    With the help of a SCSO sergeant and a Fredericksburg police officer, Erikson was escorted toward a patrol vehicle, where he also managed to assault the sergeant. 

    Erikson, 23, was charged with two counts of assault and battery on law enforcement, disorderly conduct, assault and battery, and destruction of property. 

    He is behind held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. According to online court records, he is due to appear in Fredericksburg General District Court on September 12.

    According to the SCSO, neither officer sustained serious injuries during the incident.
