Alliance woman indicted on kidnapping charge following dispute in Sebring

SEBRING, Ohio (WKBN) — An Alliance woman was indicted on a kidnapping charge Thursday following a family dispute earlier this year in Sebring.

Keleigh Rockwell, 41, faces charges of kidnapping, a first-degree felony; abduction, a third-degree felony; disrupting public services, a fourth-degree felony; and first-degree misdemeanor counts of domestic violence and theft.

The charges stem from a June 23 dispute at a home on East Indiana Avenue in Sebring. Reports said Rockwell had been at her home arguing over a family matter, tried to force herself inside, left, and then shoved a juvenile female family member into her car a short time later.

As police searched for her car, someone else found the cell phone of the juvenile on the side of the road, reports said, and Alliance police said they were at a home in the 1200 block of Noble Avenue in Alliance with Rockwell and the juvenile.

Rockwell was taken into custody by Sebring police when they arrived at the home and the juvenile told police that Rockwell had taken her, hit her and told her she would take her out of town. Rockwell also took the juvenile’s phone and threw it out of the car, reports said.

The juvenile managed to get out of the vehicle and ran to a home on Noble Avenue and told the homeowners what was happening. They called 911 and allowed the juvenile inside but Rockwell also went inside, reports said.

Rockwell managed to post bond following her arraignment in Mahoning County Area Court in Sebring. She is expected to be arraigned Sept. 10 in common pleas court.
