Smashburger eatery opening on Albany’s Madison Avenue

ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The owners of Restaurant 605 in Albany are opening up another restaurant. 605 Smash will be located at 560 Madison Avenue in the former Ralph’s Tavern space.

Gabriel Moya, along with his mother Susan Moya and his fiancée Cory Winne, opened the sports bar Restaurant 605 at 605 New Scotland Avenue in April 2022. Smash 605 is a new venture by only Moya and his fiancée.

One of the staple items at Restaurant 605 is Moya’s smashburgers. Although he’s bringing the burgers over to 605 Smash, they’ll still be available at his current restaurant. “Nothing will change with Restaurant 605,” said Moya.

As Restaurant 605 is busy each night with dinner service, Moya said they can’t accommodate take-out orders. With 605 Smash, they’ll be offering dine-in, take-out, and delivery.

“We wanted to fill that void,” said Moya. “We want to focus on quality.”

The former Ralph’s Tavern space at 560 Madison Avenue has been vacant for several years. Moya said the place was gutted, and they hired an interior designer to redesign the space. He said 605 Smash will aesthetically resemble Restaurant 605, while also honoring the history of the building.

The 605 Smash menu features single and double cheeseburgers, with an impossible patty option, fried chicken sandwiches, and fries. The smashburgers will be on a Martin’s Potato Bun instead of the Rockland Egg Twist Roll they are on at Restaurant 605.

Moya aims to open the new eatery sometime after Labor Day. 605 Smash is set to be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday,
