ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — A building at the Harriman State Office Campus in Albany was evacuated Tuesday morning after a chemical spill. Officials said some ammonium hydroxide was spilled inside a Department of Transportation testing lab.

No one was hurt. Both the Albany Fire Department and Office of Fire Prevention responded quickly to contain it.

“And we’re really fortunate because the Office of Fire Prevention is right here in this building, so we’ve got a lot of experienced people who know what to do in these situations,” New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services spokesperson Heather Groll said.

Impacted workers were relocated to other buildings while the spill was being cleaned.
