The older your vehicle is, the higher the risk of an airbag rupturing in a crash, according to NHTSA. Those curious if their vehicle has any recalls can visit the Ford or Mazda recall websites to check.

The NHTSA says that in the U.S. 27 people have been killed by defective Takata airbags that exploded and at least 400 have been injured by them. Anyone who thinks their vehicle may have a safety defect that isn’t part of a current recall should contact the NHTSA online or by calling the agency’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at (888) 327-4236.
