Rensselaer resident sentenced to 24 years for manslaughter

RENSSELAER, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — A Rensselaer resident was sentenced to 24 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter in May. Jahteek Sanchez was senteced on Wednesday.

According to the Rensselaer County District Attorney, Sanchez shot Alexander Crawford, 39, on July 2 in front of the Family Dollar in North Troy. Sanchez will also serve five years of post-release supervision.

“Mr. Sanchez made a senseless and heinous decision that he takes no responsibility for,” said Assistant District Attorney Spencer Lane who prosecuted the case for the District Attorney’s office. “He minimized his responsibility and showed no remorse.”
