Manhattan man sentenced to 5 years for drug possession

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. ( NEWS10 )– On Friday, August 16, a United States judge sentenced a Manhattan man to five years in prison for cocaine possession. William De La Rosa, 29, pleaded guilty to drug possession with the intent to distribute it in January.

Court officials said De La Rosa drove to a hotel in Amsterdam on Thursday, January 25, planning to distribute one kilogram of cocaine to another person. Police searched his vehicle when he arrived, discovering the cocaine.

De La Rosa was also sentenced to four years of probation. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) investigated the case.
