Brunick and a friend were leaving a show when the accident happened on an icy road. His friend unfortunately succumbed to his injuries, and Brunick was left with a diagnosis of grade three diffuse axonal injury.

After receiving treatment in Tartu, Estonia, Brunick was admitted to Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital in Schenectady for two months in February 2022 and participated in outpatient physical and occupational therapy for months after being discharged. Today, he refuses to let his traumatic brain injury define him, and he will speak about the impact of his brain injury at the March On for Brain Injury Walk.

The march is on Saturday, Sept. 14, in Hudson Valley, Long Island, Rochester. A virtual attendance option brings together caregivers, brain injury patients, and their families.

Brain Injury Association of New York State Executive Director Eileen Reardon said Brunick’s journey from his diagnosis to recovery has been nothing short of a miracle. “His strength and perseverance throughout her injuries and beyond is admirable and we look forward to honoring her at the March On for Brain Injury Walk,” Reardon said.
