The donated trees should be 35 to 55 feet tall and will be removed at no cost to the property owner. The state is asking the trees are clear of power lines and are in proximity to the Capital Region.

“Families that generously donate trees from the Capital Region enable this special New York State tradition,” Commissioner Moy said. “These trees will be the centerpieces that people gather around at the Empire State Plaza and the New York State Capitol to celebrate this holiday season and share its values of joy, peace, and unity.”

One tree will be placed near East Capitol Park and the other will be placed in the Empire State Plaza near the skating rink. In December, the trees will be lit as part of New York State’s tree lighting event at the Plaza.

For those who have a tree that might work, contact Kevin Ciampi by email, Kevin.Ciampi@ogs.ny.gov , and include your name, address where the tree is located, a photo and a phone number to contact.
